The education center was designed around the concept of modesty and flexibility. Besides being a place for learning, the space also needed to act as an auditorium and exhibition space for performances or competitions.
Using a series of ropes, we first created a faux ceiling that helped define the program. Using sliding doors to enclose the classrooms, the space is able to be fully opened up for large events. Lastly, because the space lacks windows, the back hallway is covered by a polycarbonate. This allows the class to view a passerby or an artwork, replicating what is usually seen through a window.
