The green station was developed to reflect the Wanchai district of Hong Kong, which was traditionally an industrial area, but has more recently become a hub of major city amenities. The goal of the station design was to use the same vocabulary of materials found in urban industry to create a mostly up-cycled and sustainable building.
The facade design of the roof and entrance structure personified this. Combining the use of multiple styles of reused fencing allowed us to make a interesting yet familiar facade and roof structure that shaded the main circulation path. There could be options to place glass or other materials between the layers of fencing to protect from precipitation in some areas.
